w.i.t task

For my wit our task was to volunteer our time to make a positive difference on others.  As we loved animals, we wanted to do something for animals.  The zoo asked us to make paper mache pinatas for the animals to play with at Brooklands Zoo. we had to blow up a balloon then we made the strips out of news paper then we made glue to stick on the strips after we added 2 layers of  the paper strips we add paper towels so we could paint them after the paint dried we popped the balloon inside.

LCMS

introduction

Lcms by kelloggs are  not an everyday food because it's unhealthy.

sugar
Lcms have 3x the size over the sugar limit. For a food  to be considered healthy it has is 10g of sugar 10g of fat and 400 mg of sodium.

Artificial colours
It has no artificial colours on the front of the box but it has colours (171,100,120,160c)[. I don't know why they would name food colours (171,100,120,160c)[.

fat
Fats not good for you and in lcm,s there is 9.7g of fat that's all most over the 10g mark which is a lot of fat.

Conclusion

This is not something you would want to eat on a daily basis because it is more like a treat.

Carnival Craft

For my carnival craft I made a tote bag. First we had to make the handles and  the main bit of the bag. Then we had to find what we wanted on the tote bag. Next we sewed the handles and the bag  together. Then we had to screen print it. I choose a hawk. This is my finished tote bag.

My teacher thinks I'm listening but really I'm flipping and bouncing at Mega Bounce launching myself into the foam pit.

My teacher thinks I'm reading but really I'm swimming at the Aquatic centre zooming down the slippery hydro slides.

Cross Country

On Wednesday it was cross country and  I came 6th place in the 9 year old boy's race. I chose to do the competitive race even though I don't like running because I wanted to give it a go. I came 6th place in the team relay race which was not as fun as I thought because i had the hill section. I got a stitch. I hate cross country.

The hardest challenge for me was when i was going up the farm hill. I trained for the cross country by going up the hill once a day. Next year I will do more training because I didn't get the best place.

I liked that there were different kinds of races because it gave me more opportunities to have a go.

My Information Report

I learnt how to write an information report using one of the invertebrate that we found in our Frankley Bush.  This was part of our WIT in TÅ«hono.  Read on to find out more...

Slimy Snails

Did you know there are different kinds of snails?  Some can also go in saltwater and freshwater. Snails can have gills and lungs depending on their species and habitat. They can live for 2 to 3 years. Some terrestrial snails eat other terrestrial snails. Terrestrial means earth and can also be used to describe something that lives on land.

Diet
Snails eat worms, plants, vegetables, dandelions, fungi. Snails feed on a variety of food found in their natural habitat. What they consume (eat) depends on where they live and their species.

Predators
Snails have some predators like mice, black birds, geese, weasels and men. Snails can go in their shells to protect themselves. Birds sometimes break snails shells by banging the snail's shell on a rock.

Habitat
Snails like damp shady environments like bushes and trees, such as you would find in the Frankley School Bush. You can find snails in your garden. Some snails live on land, some snails live in water.snails live under leaves and rocks.

You will find terrestrial snails throughout our bush environment and they are very common.  Unfortunately they can also be pests by eating plants and bushes that are trying to grow.
